From grape to bottle – the birth of Aproape wine
🍇 From grape to bottle — the birth of wine
After harvest, the journey of the grapes is only beginning. Ripe clusters leave the vineyards and arrive at the winery — the place where nature meets technology, and where grapes gradually become Aproape and VertiWine.
At the winery, the harvest is received and prepared for processing. The grapes are sorted, while specialized equipment separates the berries from the stems and, depending on the style of wine being produced, gently crushes them. Pressing follows — the stage where juice is extracted from the grapes, known in winemaking as grape must.
🍷 The next steps depend on the type of wine. For white wines, the juice is generally separated from the skins before the main fermentation. For red wines, contact with the grape skins is essential, helping to build color, structure, and character.
These large, polished vessels are usually stainless-steel tanks. They are used for important stages of winemaking, including fermentation, storage, and preparation for the next steps. Modern equipment allows winemakers to carefully control conditions inside the tanks and preserve the intended style of the wine.
🧪 Fermentation is the moment of true transformation. Yeast converts the natural sugars in the grapes into alcohol. What was grape juice only a short time before gradually becomes wine.
After fermentation, another important stage begins. Depending on the desired style, the wine may continue developing in stainless-steel tanks or move into oak barrels for maturation.
During this stage, the wine develops and moves toward its final profile. Before bottling, selected lots may be blended into the final cuvée, while the wine may also undergo clarification, stabilization, and filtration when needed. The goal is simple — a clean, stable wine that is ready for bottling.
🍾 Then comes one of the most visually impressive stages — the automated bottling line.
Empty bottles move one by one along the conveyor. On a modern line, they are prepared for filling, after which the finished wine is precisely measured into each bottle.
The bottle is then sealed with a cork or another designated closure, receives its label and final presentation details. The machines work in perfect sequence, turning a continuous stream of empty bottles into rows of finished products.
📸 Step inside the winery and follow the complete journey — from freshly harvested grapes to a finished bottle of wine.
